Functional Movement Screen

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is the product of an exercise philosophy known as Functional Movement. This exercise philosophy and corresponding set of resources is based on sound science, years of innovation, and current research. Put Simply: FMS targets the “weak link in movement” and can be applied at any fitness level. It identifies specific exercises based on individual FMS scores to instantly create customized training plans, so you can perform to your highest ability.

This is an amazing tool for anyone who wants to simply move better or for an athlete who wants to achieve peak performance. To learn more or to set up your Functional Movement Screen, email Betsy Collie at rapidresultsfitness@gmail.com

How it Works - Simplifying Movement

The FMS is a ranking and grading system that documents movement patterns key to normal function. By screening these patterns, the FMS readily identifies functional limitations, compensations and asymmetries in the body. These are issues that can reduce the effects of functional training and physical conditioning and distort body awareness.

The FMS generates the Functional Movement Screen Score, which is used to target problems and track progress. This scoring system is directly linked to the most beneficial corrective exercises to restore mechanically sound movement patterns.

The Functional Movement Screen will:

  • Identify your physical imbalances or weaknesses and strengthen them with simple corrective exercises

  • Teach the difference between movement quality and movement quantity—so you understand how you can achieve better results with less apparent effort

  • Identify your current injury trends and potentials as they relate to the prevention of non-contact injuries

  • Help you understand how “primitive” movement can hold the keys to unlocking your physical restrictions

  • Eliminate your poor movements and quickly, effectively, and efficiently replace it with good movements

  • Establish a personal benchmark for your own movement patterns with a clear direction and path to help you be more mobile
